چکیده

We study a discrete-time resource flow in Zd, where wealthier vertices attract the resources of their less rich neighbors. For any translation-invariant probability distribution of initial resource quantities, we prove that the flow at each vertex terminates after finitely many steps. This answers (a generalized version of) a question posed by Van den Berg and Meester in 1991. The proof uses the masstransport principle and extends to other graphs. Entropy-based Consensus for Distributed Data Clustering

The increasingly larger scale of available data and the more restrictive concerns on their privacy are some of the challenging aspects of data mining today. In this paper, Entropy-based Consensus on Cluster Centers (EC3) is introduced for clustering in distributed systems with a consideration for confidentiality of data; i.e. it is the negotiations among local cluster centers that are used in t...

Communication-Efficient and Exact Clustering Distributed Streaming Data

A widely used approach to clustering a single data stream is the two-phased approach in which the online phase creates and maintains micro-clusters while the off-line phase generates the macro-clustering from the micro-clusters. We use this approach to propose a distributed framework for clustering streaming data. Our proposed framework consists of fundamental processes: one coordinator-site pr...

Programming Paradigms and Clustering Rules Programming Paradigms and Clustering Rules

Debugging distributed applications is very di cult, due to a number of problems. To manage the inherent complexity of distributed applications, the use of abstractions is proposed. One frequently performed abstraction is to group processes into clusters. We describe an approach to derive clustering rules from well{known programming paradigms for distributed programming. Programming paradigms de...

The use of process clustering in distributed-system event displays

When debugging a distributed application, a display showing the events causing interactions between processes can be very useful. If the number of processes is large, displaying all of them may be impossible or undesirable. In such cases, several processes may be collapsed into a ‘‘cluster’’, with all interactions internal to the cluster omitted from the display. This paper describes the fundam...

Studying Dynamic behavior of Distributed Parameter Processes Behavior Based on Dominant Gain Concept and it’s Use in Controlling these Processes

In this paper, distributed parameter process systems behavior is studied in frequency domain. Based on the dominant gain concept that is developed for such studies, a method is presented to control distributed parameter process systems. By using dominant gain concept, the location of open loop zeros, resulted from the time delay parameter in the process model, were changed from the right half p...
